Ongoing Support & Coaching

Not every family has the time and resources to commit to a comprehensive financial plan, but still has questions they need answered and concerns to be addressed. It’s for these reasons Planning Across the Spectrum teamed up with Eric Jorgensen – to offer help on an hourly or by-project basis. Below is an overview of how Planning Across the Spectrum can help families with intellectual and developmental disabilities navigate the resource maze.

Often families don’t have the time or energy to research resources and tools outside of what the schools or city/state tell them about. Hiring a consultant is a way to amplify your capabilities and pass the burden to someone else, allowing you to focus on what matters most – time with your loved ones. Consultants aren’t just for those who have no idea where to start; they are also for those who may not have the bandwidth to tackle one more thing or for those who can’t deal with one more task.

Next Steps

If you feel you don’t know what to do when it comes to finding resources or you are overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done, we’ll work together to prioritize the items and list them in a simple to follow checklist. If you’re not sure where to start, we’ll work with you to determine what needs to be done and in what order, and you’ll walk away with the information needed to make the next steps.

Sometimes all we need is a nudge to keep us motivated. Perhaps someone to point us in the right direction. As a single dad of a child with disabilities, Eric knows first-hand how important it is to be able to talk to someone who “gets it.” He would be happy to be your sounding board, help you talk through ideas, and find possible solutions before moving forward with implementation.

Clients who have specific questions about what they need to do for themselves, their child(ren), or a family member can hire Planning Across the Spectrum to address these specific concerns. Here are just a few examples of items Planning Across the Spectrum has helped its clients with:

  • Coming to terms with the diagnosis & next steps
  • Overview of resources given you or your child’s diagnosis, interests & abilities
  • Identifying which resources are best given your circumstances
  • Explaining benefits (simplifying terms)
  • Creating a checklist of “to do” items, and prioritizing
  • Offering information on adult support, including information on insurance, Supplemental Security Income, Medicare, and Medicaid
  • Referring you to legal and financial resources specific to special needs families
  • Offering information & referrals to respite care resources through community programs
  • Providing training and workshops
  • Providing educational consulting

We look forward to working with you and providing knowleeddge to help your family.
